Cayenne pepper has taken its topmost position in the dieting world nowadays. What makes this hot chili pepper a sudden fad? Studies show that a mixture of water, maple syrup, lemon, and cayenne pepper can decrease your weight by twenty or more pounds in just two weeks. Many dieters who are craving for a curvier figure had shifted from their old routine to this particularly effective regimen.
Although the standard mixture has always been water, maple syrup, lemon and cayenne pepper, a more natural approach created the substitution of the processed maple syrup with raw honey. What is the difference between maple syrup and honey? The former is a processed sweetener while the latter is a natural compound produced by honeybees and found in most beehives. It is a monosaccharide and its sweetness can be comparable to the common table sugar which is a disaccharide. It has many medicinal benefits, particularly as a topical ointment. It is used by the old Egypt world for many years as an anti-bacterial agent and a main ingredient for their mummification process. Modern day people use this sweet substance for medication especially for sore throats or skin irritations.
What is the honey’s role in the cayenne pepper diet? The cayenne pepper diet is a concoction use to detoxify the body and burn fat. The body fasts for twenty four hours and so it needs a source of energy for it to continue its functions. Honey and lemon will provide the nutrients while the body refrains from ingesting solid food. Honey, as a monosaccharide, will act as a substitute to solid foods in providing the body energy. But can honey successfully provide the much needed energy for the body to continue its functions? This sweet-tasting monosaccharide is composed mainly of fructose and glucose with small amounts of maltose and sucrose. It contains trace amounts of vitamins, minerals, and compounds proven to be anti-oxidants. It has also small amounts of Vitamin C. It is also important to learn that the composition of specific honey types depends on the flowers available to the honeybees that produced them.
During the rigorous cayenne pepper diet, the body is deprived of solid food to effectively flush away the toxins that have accumulated inside. As such, withdrawal from solid foods will change the body’s chemistry. Thus it is crucial to maintain the body’s metabolic processes. Although honey is capable in providing the needed energy because of its fructose and glucose content, it does not have a suitable amount of vitamins and minerals to keep the tissues in proper working conditions. For this reason, most people use maple syrup, a processed substitute for honey, which has more mineral content. Hence, however organically-pure honey can be, it is not prudent to use this as a source of nutrients in the nutrient-deficit cayenne pepper diet. It is best to have other alternatives if one wishes to pursue with this regimen. Lastly, a positive outlook and proper physical and mental preparations are always the key for a successful diet.
